IIPLA Refund and Cancellation Policy
The International Intellectual Property Law Association (IIPLA) offers four core services: Events, IP Filing Services, Courses, and Memberships. Please review our refund policies in detail, as each service has specific guidelines for cancellations, transfers, and exceptions.
General Policy on Refunds
- No Refunds: All transactions with IIPLA are strictly non-refundable. Once a purchase is confirmed, refunds are not issued under any circumstances.
- Transparency and Review: Prior to finalizing a purchase, we encourage all customers to thoroughly review the service details, terms, and conditions to ensure full understanding and agreement with our policies.
Event Registration Refund/Cancellation Policy
Registration Cancellation by Participant
- Non-Refundable Payment: Event registrations are final and non-refundable.
- Ticket Transfer: If the registered attendee is unable to participate, they may transfer their ticket to a colleague at no additional cost. All transfers must be completed no later than two weeks before the event date, and the request must be submitted in writing.
- Postponement Option: Attendees unable to attend the event have the option to apply their registration to the next scheduled IIPLA event. Requests for postponement must be made at least 14 days before the event.
- Visa Denial Credit: In cases where a registrant cannot attend due to non-issuance of a visa, IIPLA will offer a full credit applicable to a future IIPLA conference. Proof of visa denial must be provided, and the request for credit must be made within 10 days of the event date.
Event Cancellation by IIPLA
- Right to Cancel: IIPLA reserves the right to cancel or postpone any event due to low enrollment, venue issues, or other circumstances that make the event non-viable.
- Event Credit: If IIPLA cancels or postpones an event, all registered participants will receive a full credit to be applied toward any future IIPLA event.
- Notification: In the event of cancellation or postponement, IIPLA will notify all registrants promptly. For any postponements, registrants will have the option to transfer their registration to the new event date or apply the credit to a different IIPLA event.
Membership Refund/Cancellation Policy
- Non-Refundable Membership Fees: Membership fees and charges are non-refundable, with no refunds or credits provided for partially used membership periods.
- Special Cases for Refund: Refunds may be considered if there is a demonstrated error, such as unintentional updates to payment information. Requests for such exceptions should be made within 30 days of the transaction.
- Jurisdictional Refund Rights: In jurisdictions that offer legal protections, such as the European Union, members may qualify for a full refund if requested within 14 days of the membership start date. This period begins on the activation date of the membership, regardless of any trial period offered.
- Cancellation and Expiry: Cancellation requests may be submitted by phone, fax, or email. Upon cancellation, all membership features will expire at the end of the current billing cycle. We recommend using all available features before the cancellation is finalized.
IP Filing Services Refund/Cancellation Policy
Non-Refundable Payments for IP Filing
- Finality of Payment: Due to the specialized nature of intellectual property filing services, all payments are non-refundable once work has commenced.
- Review and Acknowledgment: Clients are encouraged to review the service details and requirements carefully. Any questions regarding the scope or nature of the IP filing should be clarified prior to engaging IIPLA’s services.
- Best Practice – Transparency and Progress Updates:
- Initial Consultation: Clients will receive a detailed consultation outlining the filing process, associated timelines, and estimated outcomes.
- Project Milestones: Clients will be provided with regular progress updates as filings progress. Any delays or obstacles will be communicated promptly.
- Client-Initiated Cancellations: If a client chooses to terminate the filing process midway, they are still responsible for any work completed up to that point. No refunds will be issued for completed work.
Post-Filing Amendments
- Additional Charges: Amendments or additional filing requests will incur extra charges based on the nature of the request and the stage of the original filing.
- Client Responsibility: IIPLA will strive to ensure accurate and complete filings; however, clients must provide all necessary information accurately to facilitate a smooth process.
Course Purchases Refund/Cancellation Policy
- Non-Refundable Course Fees: All course fees are non-refundable once the course has been purchased.
- Best Practice – Pre-Purchase Clarity:
- Course Details: All courses are detailed with specific learning objectives, outlines, and prerequisites to help clients make informed decisions.
- Trial Sessions (if available): For select courses, a trial session or introductory module may be offered. This is non-refundable but designed to give participants a preview of the full course content.
- Missed Classes and Access Periods:
- No Refunds for Missed Classes: Clients are responsible for attending and completing course modules within the specified access period. Missed sessions or unused access time will not be refunded.
- Access Duration: Course access will remain available for a specified period from the purchase date. Extensions are only provided under exceptional circumstances and upon review.
